THE ASSIGNMENT:

DollSquad was formed in MELBOURNE IN 2004 BY JOEY WHO WANTED to do something different to what other girl groups were doing in Melbourne and other parts of the globe. Joey wanted to fuse the rock sound of bands like the Rolling Stones with the doll image of bands like the Ronettes. DollSquad WAS CREATED TO BE the quintessential ‘rock n doll’ machine.

the band has notched up quite a reputation on the local and international indie scenes for their tough and catchy melodies and refreshing live shows. The credentials

DollSquad has supported international touring bands The 5,6,7,8’s, The Brunettes and The Stray Cats AMONG OTHERS and also played with Killing Heidi, The Stems and legendary Australian punk band X, among others. They have had multiple community TV appearances, performed ‘live to air’ on radio stations PBS, 3CR, and RRR, and assisted with benefits for these radio stations and other charity events. The band has featured on various compilation albums worldwide and also contributed a song to an American made horror movie which was released in 2008 ENTITLED ‘GUARDIAN OF EDEN’

DollSquad have appeared in Germany’s Ox magazine, Italy’s Misty Lane, France’s Target Magazine, Spain’s Ansia De Color, Australia’s Lone Gone Loser, Australia’s Filmink, UK’s Scootering among others. The band has even inspired B-grade movie critic John Harrison to create a set of action figures created in their likeness!

The recorded evidence

DollSquad’s debut EP was released in February 2005 entitled ‘Retro Dolls From Hipsville’! In 2006 the band released a 7” vinyl release on Belgium’s Cherry Bomb Records (a division of Bang!) and also a long player on Italy’s Teen Sound records (a division of Misty Lane) record label and magazine.

DollSquad have just recorded a brand new album entitled ‘LETHAL IN LEATHER’ which was produced by Steve Lucas from Australia’s legendary BAND X. The release date for this will be set as soon as the band decides which of several licensing deals to accept.

EUROPEAN CONNECTION

DollSquad performed a 30 date tour of Europe in 2006 which included playing with original sixties legends The Remains and several ‘sixties revival’ festivals INCLUDING LE BEAT BESPOKE.

THE GIRLS ARE SET FOR THEIR SECOND EUROPEAN ONSLAUGHT IN APRIL TO MAY 2010.
