The Hollow Points

What do you get when you mix up a little bit of The Clash, Social Distortion,
and Dead Boys with a whole lot of blood, sweat, tears, hard work and love?
You get Seattle’s own The Hollowpoints. This punk-rock loving, living,
and representing 4 piece started in 2002 when lead vocalist/guitarist Matty
McKinney moved to Seattle with childhood friend + bass player Ben Early. Upon
moving to Seattle, Matty and Ben came across dummer Dan Colley, and The Hollowpoints
were born. The band recently recruited guitarist Will McCarthy in January
of 2006, from the Northwest metal-punk champs Axes of Evil, and feel confident
this is the line-up that was always meant to be.
The Hollowpoints are anything BUT your typical punk and roll band. This is
a band that would easily impress their main influences; The Clash, Rancid,
Cock Sparrer, Stiff Little Fingers, Social Distortion, Green Day, Thin Lizzy,
Swingin' Utters, US Bombs, Dead Boys, etc. With their far beyond ordinary
talent and one of the most energetic live shows out there, The Hollowpoints
LIVE to play. Rocking over 15 tours in the past 3 years has earned The Hollowpoints
the “street cred” they well deserve. With rave reviews from show
attendees and the many bands they’ve shared the road and stage with,
The Hollowpoints are bound to win the rock n’ roll world over one show
at a time. They have shared the stage with an impressive roster of equally
talented bands such as the US Bombs (who the band joined for the duration
of their 2006 US tour), The Briefs, The Hunns, The Black Halos, Angel City
Outcasts, GBH, The Exploited, Swingin' Utters, The Briggs, Toxic Narcotic,
The Stitches, The Distillers, Zeke, MxPx, Aiden, Youth Brigade, The GC5, and
Throw Rag.
In the past few years the band has managed to accomplish a lot of what most
bands will never do nor are willing to work to see. In 2006 they were featured
on Thrasher’s King of the Road video, gained sponsorship from Schecter
Guitars, Draven Shoes, and Vigilantics Clothing. They have 10 different releases
of songs and have managed to produce 2 videos . in support of “The Black
Spot”, their 2005 album produced by the legendary Duane Peters, on Disaster
Records. They have rocked as well as gained the attention of the many massive
music festivals that draw well over 35,000+ attendees, such as the Vans Warped
Tour & Bumbershoot Music Festival in Seattle.
With ample amounts of passion, drive, motivation and enthusiasm, The Hollowpoints
have no plans of relenting anytime soon! The boys hope to continue touring
like mad and recording as much as possible, doing whatever it takes to keep
this dream they have created alive.
"The best part about our band to me is the people who are in it - my
best friends in the world - and we all feel the same. I think we have a lot
to say, and we are very passionate about our message. We believe that people
can take something good from our music as well as have a good time with it,
because that's exactly what we do with it, and why we are here in the first
place," says bassist Ben Early, when asked what his favorite part of
being in the band is.
The Hollowpoints are a fresh breath of air in a music scene that is loosing
touch with the true spirit of not just punk, but rock and roll. These boys
have been living their lives how they want to, making the music they want
to, and it's about time somebody listened up.
