SIR REG

SIR REG is an energetic 6-piece from Sweden playing Celtic rock/punk with many creative inputs. It all started with Brendan Sheehy, an Irishman who left his hometown of Dublin for Sweden and putting together a band who played Irish songs and favourite covers by bands such as The Pogues, The Horslips, Flogging Molly, Blur, David Bowie, Oasis, The Beatles, The Dubliners and Dropkick Murphy's. After years of gigging all over Scandinavia, SIR REG was born out of frustration and creative energy, as the urge to write their own songs proved too strong. They started off with entering the studio to record a bunch of tunes of their own. The end result was unexpectadly good even for their diverse tastes in music. And things started moving straight away. In September 2010 SIR REG went on a European Tour supporting American horror-punkers The Misfits and got a great response from the audience.

In November 2010 8 tracks were released on a self-titled CD. Good melodies, strong hooklines, violins, banjos, flutes, accordions, mellotrons and distorted guitars were thrown in the blender. All delivered with lots of energy. The CD was voted "Best Celtic rock and punk album of 2010" by the visitors of celticfolkpunk.blogspot.com.and the internet radio station Paddy Rock Radio. Celticfolkpunk also voted SIR REG as "Best Celtic band of 2010".

Their second album "A Sign Of The Times" was released in October 2011, both on CD and LP and won the band the number 1 album of the year at Paddyrock.com for the second year running!  It sums up what it's like to live in this chaotic and unpredictable world of ours. The songs deal with issues of hardship, emmigration, pain and the desperation that many of our people are faced with, as well as the hopes and dreams that we share and the belief in a better future. Not afraid to explore territory beyond Celtic Punk, this album tells its story using a wide range of music styles, while faithfully remaining true to the SIR REG sound.

The recent tours of Europe, both with The Misfits and as a headliner, have given the band an insight into other creative areas of both music and thinking which is strikingly evident within this album. This is the next stop on the SIR REG journey. Make sure to be a part of it. After all, deep down you already are!
