Topper
If you think that punkrock died with the Clash/Stiff Little Fingers, think
again, 'cause here are four guys brought up to the right beliefs. With one
foot in the 77 punk scene and one in the present, these guys from the outskirts
of Swedish capital Stockholm kick ass while screaming: Once a punk , always
a punk!
In 1998 Topper rose from the ashes of nothing as they realized that no one
played real punk rock ' n ' roll anymore. The lack of a record deal made them
release their first mini -CD themselves in the proper punkish DIY manner.
Playing at one of the biggest outdoor festivals , Hultsfred (Sweden) , 1999
gave them a record deal with MNW. Their first single, "Once A Punk Always
A Punk" released in May 2000 was produced by Sank (Killng Joke, Backyard
Babies, Clawfinger). The single immediately reached no 23 on the Swedish national
single chart, as well as the highest rotation on national radio P3 and it
was rewarded with excellent reviews in the press.
After the summer of 2000 Topper started planning for a full lenght album when
everything suddenly went black. The usual record company problem occurred;
MNW went bust. But in the year 2001 the band was re-signed to Corruption Records,
with their former producer Sank at the wheel. After lots of sweat and drinking
the album is now finally among us.
After 5 years of hardcore recording the album "namn på album"
will be released 28th of December 2005 - exactly five years from the day that
the very first drumpatterns was recorded. It contains 10 original Topper old
school 77 punkrock songs . The album is produced by Sank and mixed by Stefan
Glaumann. (Killing Joke, Backyard babies, Clawfinger,Rammstein) .The single
"Off She Goes " is lifted from the album and also includes a non-album
track; "Revival". "Off She Goes" will be out in the northern
territories in November 2005. Look out for the new Single in 2006 !
